SNOW DAYS

I've been kinda unmotivated this past week. Last Saturday I went to Hershey with my friends and it was amazing. I seriously had the best time! That was supposed to be this week's post. I'm trying to post every Wednesday, but I'm not quite finished with that one. So plan B...

I've been kinda unmotivated this past week. This reminded me of my favorite lifestyle blogger/entrepreneur, Lauren Elizabeth. She opens up her podcast, MOOD with Lauren Elizabeth, with her best and worst mood(s). Sometimes, her worst mood is feeling unmotivated, or uninspired. She keeps it real and talks about what she's feeling, with the off-chance that someone can relate. Here, on OLIVIA GENEVIEVE, I want to do the same. Some days, weeks, months, whatever... were just not feeling it — that was my week.

If you live in South-Central Pennsylvania, you know snow is a hot topic as of late. It looks like someone forgot that snow is only cute in December. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous, but I'm cold and want summer.

I work at an elementary school before/after-care program, where, "Winter Weather Advisory," means school is closed. And I'm here like, "Yayyy, no work...wait...no money." But that's not necessarily the cause of my "meh." These snow days throw me off my schedule. Last week I had three days off (in a row). I didn't do my devotions, I didn't work out, I didn't really do anything. Being busy/having a schedule keeps me motivated. These snow days do the opposite.

I just act like it's Saturday...three days in a row.

  • 6:30 am
    • wake up
    • brush teeth/skincare routine
    • make hair "presentable"
  • 7:00 am
    • make bed
    • meditate (basically, i do my devotions then stretch while listening to worship music)
  • 7:30 am
    • breakies

After breakfast, I check my mental to-do list and try to get something done with the energy of a sloth. I spent an hour trying to tweeze stray eyebrow hairs that are still to short to tweeze. I was planning on reshooting my Poshmark listings (an app where you can sell clothes, accessories, etc.). I follow Helen Owen on YouTube and she said that you make more sales if you model what you're selling — of course, that's my new project. But my lack of a tripod and luck with the self-timer feature, made me feel defeated. Then I went back to trying to tweeze my brows. At this point, I was a lost cause. I could have worked on my blog, made my grocery list for the upcoming week, filled out my transaction register. Honestly, I could have done anything. Whether it be the snow, or the lack of schedule, I was completely unmotivated.

Unmotivation (not a word, but it is today) can get the best of us. I had my week and now I'm back on schedule. Our bodies know what we need. If I'm unmotivated, I most likely need a break — that's self care. I don't want to run out of steam and continue to push myself. If I need a break, I'll take it. Next, I'll learn how to not turn into a neurotic turtle when my schedule goes different than I planned :).

K THANKS BYE,

Look, we're growing. I don't want to rush to get a new post out, so some of them will be a word vomit session like this (but that's fun, right). Next week's post though, is fun. I had such a fun time last Saturday, so be ready and waiting for my next post. Sorry, I'm famous, I don't make the rules.
